Uganda, 18th February 2025 – On 20th January, President Trump ended all US foreign aid. The consequences are devastating for humanitarian programmes worldwide, and the families and children supported by Child’s i Foundation will be among the hardest hit. So today, we ask:
Would you help us raise £120,000 to bridge this unexpected funding gap?
This funding accounted for a significant portion of our 2025 budget, directly supporting child protection, family support, and economic empowerment initiatives across our projects in Uganda. Beyond the financial setback, this decision disrupts the lives of thousands of children and families who rely on these programmes for their safety, stability, and future. Without urgent intervention, many families will struggle to meet even their most basic needs.
The impact will be severe:
- Child protection systems are at risk – Without qualified social workers working in close collaboration with trained community volunteers, vulnerable children will go without essential support.
- Family separation and institutionalisation will increase – Economic hardship will push more children into orphanages or unsafe conditions.
- Community trust and engagement will suffer – The sudden loss of funding will damage relationships with local communities and government partners, making future interventions far more challenging.
Child’s i Foundation has already taken immediate action to safeguard essential services. We are identifying the families, children, and communities most at risk and providing targeted support. By strengthening community-led initiatives, we aim to keep local systems resilient and sustainable, empowering communities to protect their own children.
However, there is much we will no longer be able to do.
Collaboration is key. We urge governments, donors, philanthropists, and the private sector to stand with us in delivering sustainable, community-driven child protection efforts. Now more than ever, we must work together to ensure that no child is left behind.
