My Heart was broken, but now it is Healing

Sharon is a single mother to a two-year-old daughter, Naomi who has Cerebral Palsy. “It has been tough,” Sharon told us as she cuddled her daughter, Naomi, in her arms. Sharon’s husband was the sole provider. When he left, Sharon struggled to cope with the financial demands.

“One day, I was walking carrying my child, I was not going anywhere really, I broke down and started crying, I did not know what I was going to do, It broke my heart that I could not afford to take care of my child,” Sharon said as she put down Naomi who was now fast asleep.

Ramba, one of our community volunteers met Sharon and connected her to Child’s i. We were able to support Sharon with rent for six months and provide her with a small grant to start a business selling tomatoes and onions next to her house to earn some money so that she could afford to look after her daughter.

We also supported Sharon with some of her medical bills for Naomi’s treatment and provided milk, porridge flour, and the medication she needs. “My heart was broken but now it’s healing,” Sharon told us smiling, as she looked at her daughter. “I am now strong and I can take care of my daughter. I feel very happy because I am supported.” She added.

Your support enables us to reach and provide the much-needed help, families just like Sharon’s need.
