Celebrating 15 years of making families

On the bright morning of Tuesday, 8th October, 2024, Childs i Foundation celebrated a remarkable milestone of 15 years of transforming the lives of vulnerable children and families.

We hosted an anniversary breakfast, bringing together supporters, partners, and friends to celebrate together. This event was not just a celebration of our achievements but it was a reflection of our commitment to ensure that all children are thriving in families.

The day kicked off with welcome remarks from our Country Director, David Adoke, who shared his gratitude for everyone and reinforced our vision of “One day every child thriving in a safe and loving family.” He also reminded us of the collective efforts required to make this vision a reality.

To provide guests with a deeper understanding of our work, a video was shown that showcased the devastating effects of institutional care on children. It highlighted the story of Isaac who once lived in an orphanage but is now thriving within a loving family.

In her opening remarks, Annette Kijjaguiwe, the Chairperson Board of Trustees Uganda, emphasised the importance of collaboration and partnership in driving our mission forward which is our second strategic aim. She also passionately advocated for children growing up in families rather than institutions.

The day’s Guest of Honour of the day; Ms. Grace Muliisa, the Managing Director of Eco Bank Uganda congratulated Child’s i for the big milestone of impacting children and families for 15 years.  She called upon corporate entities and individuals to support initiatives that ensure that prioritise family care, “If we don’t act right now, the number of children in institutional care will increase. This is a cause that is not just about charity but investing in the future. Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind”

The highlight of the breakfast was the generosity displayed by the guests who raised an incredible £12,000 in cash and pledges during the fundraising portion of the event. The funds raised will directly support the work being done towards ensuring that children are thriving in families, essential needs and medical.

The day was crowned with closing remarks delivered on behalf of our C.E.O, Christopher Muwanguzi who shared with the guests that, “Care reform is not just a policy initiative. It is a movement towards a society where every child is given the chance to grow up in a family-based environment free from institutionalisation that stifles their potential.”

As Child’s i Foundation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for this momentous celebration. Your support, whether through donations, tickets purchase, or simply spreading the word about our mission, is precious to us.

As we continue on our journey to ensure that children are thriving in families, we invite you to continue walking with us, championing family care as opposed to children growing up in institutions.
